Academic Progress
RSU students who apply for assistance through the following loan programs are required to meet two separate requirements to maintain their financial aid eligibility:
- Federal Pell Grant
- SEOG
- Federal Work Study
- Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant (OTAG)
- Federal Stafford Loan
- Federal PLUS
First: students are required to maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average.
Second: students are required to complete (pass) at least 75 percent of the credit hours attempted each academic year.
For financial aid purposes, all grades are counted as hours attempted. Only grades of A, B, C, D, S, and P are counted as hours successfully completed. All hours attempted at all institutions are used to calculate academic progress. Passing grades received in zero level remedial classes count as hours attempted for financial aid purposes. Audit classes are not eligible for financial aid and are not counted as hours attempted.
These two requirements are summarized in the following chart. Failure to meet both of these minimum academic standards will result in the loss of financial aid igibility.

Satisfactory Academic Progress is checked at the end of each semester. Students are responsible for knowing their status at the end of each semester.
Financial Aid Probation
Students not meeting the requirements shown above will be placed on financial aid probation. This is a warning status and students on probation may continue to receive financial aid.
Financial Aid Suspension
Students on probation who do not meet the requirements shown above will be placed on financial aid suspension. Students cannot receive funds from financial aid programs while on financial aid suspension. Eligibility may be re-established after the student improves his or her academic record to meet the minimum standards outlined above and pending approval of financial aid appeal submitted by the student to the RSU Office of Financial Aid.
